For obvious reasons, smoking is not good for your health and the environment we live in. For those of you who desire to quit smoking, may find it tough to give it up simply for a fact that cigarettes have become part of your life.
But quitting is not impossible if you put your mind and heart into it. It’s certainly a fight that can be won!
That being said, try to follow the following tips to stop smoking.
- Convince yourself that quitting smoking was is possible. Think about the better quality of life when you’re free of smoke and what would happen if you choose to continue.
- Plan a date to put a stop to smoking. Prior to the date, get rid of ashtrays, matches, and the things that can trigger you to smoke again. When the date you choose arrives, just do it with no hesitation.
- Plan some sort of activities. Something that you’ll do on that date. For example go to places where there is “no smoking area”, or go exercise.
- Make a list of people who support your efforts to quit smoking, and ask for moral support from them.
- To cope with withdrawal symptoms substances, eat low-calorie foods and drink plenty of water.
- Resist the temptation to smoke, even if only one puff alone. One can easily be followed by another and another, and your effort will be all futile.
- If you’re about to give up “giving up” and when your cravings are too strong to resist, try this exercise. Inhale deeply through your mouth, then out slowly with your lips retract. Repeat 5-10 times till the craving stops.
